So, the Transition Towns movement started back in 2006 in Totnes, UK. Soon the ideas behind it were inspiring people around the globe. What has happened since then? How has the world changed? What have we learned?
The Transition movement is a global grassroots initiative that challenges ordinary people to recognize the value of community, local living and sustainable design in shaping our responses to the pressing issues of our time.
The Transition Movement focuses on the issues of peak oil, climate change and an unpredictable global economy and takes a look back at the way communities have operated in the past and what we might learn from them in terms of solving today's problems.
The approach of the Transition Movement is rooted in Permaculture. Permaculture is a holistic system of thinking in which you value and maximize connections and interactions between elements of a system to create a strong web of resilience. Resilience is the best kind of security.
Over the past few years, Transition Saint Clair Shores has focused on raising awareness around the issues we face and helping people to identify areas for building resilience their own lives and in our community.
You should come to this meeting if you are interested in community, sustainability, environmentalism, gardening, energy efficiency, small business, food preservation, buying local, or in leading a happier, more connected life.
