Kick Start Your Summer Celebration of the Arts at the Ford House
The Edsel & Eleanor Ford House has partnered with listener-supported WRCJ 90.9 FM to present a “Kickstart Your Summer” celebration of arts Saturday for families, students and arts organizations.
The free event features live entertainment, an instrument “petting zoo” and more than 30 exhibitors from Southeast Michigan arts and educational organizations.
The event will be held at the Activities Center on the grounds of Edsel & Eleanor Ford House and will feature live entertainment from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Livonia Symphony, Macomb Symphony, Oakland University, Cantata Academy Chorale, Langsford Men’s Chorus and the Motor City Brass Band.
There will also be preformances from theatre groups including the Grosse Pointe Theatre and Full Impact Theater.
Additionally, representatives from groups including The Detroit Institute of Arts, Sphinx Organization, College for Creative Studies, Grosse Pointe Community Chorus, Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum will providing information about their organizations and providing activities for families.
Tours of the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House will be available with an admission fee of $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, $5 for children ages 6 – 12, free for children under 5.
More About Edsel & Eleanor Ford House
The Edsel & Eleanor Ford House gives visitors a glimpse into the lives of one of Detroit's most notable families through a variety of multimedia displays. The Albert Kahn-designed home was built in 1926 for the family and was later transferred to a trust to allow for public uses of the grounds of the estate.
Family events, concerts by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and lunch and dinners on the grounds are among a variety of events offered at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House.
