Boating and Outdoor Festival
The Michigan Boating Industries Association's Boating & Outdoor Festival returns to Metro Beach Metropark for four fun-filled days, Sept. 22-25.
Whether you're looking to buy or simply looking, this show is a great place to start. All kinds of boats, ATVs, kayaks, snowmobiles, personal watercraft, motorcycles, kite boards, paddle boards, sunrooms, hot tubs and more will be on display and for sale. Some buyers are likely to find some great end-of-season deals as well.
But it's more than boats and browsing, as there's fun for the whole family. Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer will make several appearances, and children will enjoy the Kids Zone, full of bounce houses, face-painting, fishing games and more. Also, Duma the waterskiing dog will wow the crowds. There will be live music and merriment at the Tiki Bar. Plus there are plenty of contests and promotions going on throughout the festival.
Anyone fishing for information will find it here, too, with outdoor recreation, fishing, waterfront living, fine art, vacation destinations and more stands set up for visitors. The BRP Ultimate Playground will be set up at the South Marina, with an off-road course, Sea Doo fun and more in the works.
Festival hours are noon-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $9 for adults, and children under 12 get in free with an adult. To enter the Metroparks a vehicle entry permit is required. Cost is $25 annually for regular admission, $15 annually for seniors, or $5 daily. General park information can be found at www.metroparks.com or by calling 800-47-PARKS.
