What Are You Giving Up for Lent in 2013?
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lent. What are you sacrificing?
Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter Sunday, makes up the most venerated days in the Christian calendar. Feb. 13, Ash Wednesday, marks the beginning of the Lenten season when Christians are asked to prepare for the resurrection of Jesus Christ through repentance, prayer, atonement and self-denial.
It has become common for many Christians to sacrifice one vice they have during the Christian liturgical season.
So, what are you giving up this Lent? Really addicting reality TV? Chocolate? Alcohol? Words with Friends? Or, have you decided to give up an inner bad habit, such as negativity or jealousy?
Is Lent about steadfast dedication to giving something up, or just a time to be more mindful of one's good—and bad—habits?

What are you giving up for Lent?

Alcohol. No wine with dinner! No beer for the game! Oh the humanity!
But it's cool. Beats starving for 40 days and 40 nights with the Devil trying to hire you like a mulit-level marketing salesman.
At least with Catholics I know there is a change in Lenten behavior - instead of giving something up, we are asked to add something in. Like random acts of kindness, pay it forward type deals, helping out others, donating time, money, items with the mindset of helping others instead of giving up swearing/chocolate/alcohol/pop/whatever.
I'm going for both type things, not because I'm such an awesome Catholic, but I think it's pretty awesome no matter who you are.

I'm giving up Lent for Lent. That seems like the logical choice.
