Weekend Events in the Shores

Check out the mix of events happening around the Shores this weekend.

 

There may be a chill in the air, but it is perfect weather to get Shorians in the mood for a variety of events around town this weekend.

Get your "funk" on

Soul and classic rock band Groove Council will be playing the Blue Goose Inn at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There is a $4 cover charge.

Learn to play hockey

The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association and the Detroit Red Wings will be holding a "Try Hockey for Free" clinic for children 4 to 9 years old from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Clair Shores Civic Arena, 20000 Stephens. Equipment will be provided, but children have to register prior to the event at www.maha.org.

What's going on

The Sports Channel will be hosting a tribute show to Marvin Gaye and Rod Stewart at 7 p.m. Saturday. The $25 advance tickets, or $30 at the door, includes dinner and show. There will also be a special appearance by the Bluez Brothers. For more information call 586-771-2333 or 586-772-1200.

Catholic school open house

St. Clair Shores Catholic Schools will be hosting open houses Sunday. St. Germaine will be open from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Call 586-771-0890 for more information. St. Isaac Jogues will hold an open house from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Call 586-771-3525 for information. St. Joan of Arc will hold an open house at 6 p.m. Thursday. Call 586-775-8370 for information.
