The Wayne State football team has a St. Clair Shores connection.

Lakeview graduate Steve Conway and St. Clair Shores resident Joe Biernat both are on the roster for Wayne State, which will take on Pittsburg State in the Division II national championship game on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Florence, AL.

Conway, a junior wide receiver, has played in 14 games. He has caught seven passes for 53 yards. He also has six tackles on special teams.

Biernat, a graduate of De La Salle, has not played in a game this season. He is a redshirt freshman tight end.

thats great but how about wayne state alumni and those that are attending. when i attended wayne, they were known as the tartars. the sports they were known for were fencing and to a less extent basketball. there was no reason to follow the football program. times have changed, go warriors.

I have two degrees from Wayne State. I support all Wayne State activities including theater, music and athletics. I am taking the bus to Alabama on Friday sponsored by the Wayne State University Department of Athletics. It should an exciting game and a great opportunity for Wayne State graduates to show their support. If you want to watch the game with a group of fans you can go to Emagine Theater in Royal Oak on Saturday.
