VP Hopeful Paul Ryan Headed to Rochester

The Republican vice presidential candidate will attend a rally at Oakland University on Monday night.

Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan will appear at a Republican campaign rally at Oakland University on Monday night.

The event is open to the public; tickets are free and can be ordered online now or picked up at area campaign offices starting Monday. The rally starts at 7 p.m. at the Athletics Center O'rena, the site of a GOP presidential debate last fall.

Kid Rock is expected to introduce Ryan at the event, according to reports

The event, called a "Victory Rally," will occur four nights before the debate between Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden; that debate is planned for 8 p.m. Thursday.

For Ryan, the rally at OU follows a morning rally in Swanton, Ohio.

Here's what you need to know about the Monday night OU visit.

8:59 PM Sunday night. Some "help us defeat Obama" robo call. Some PAC I didn't stay on the line. Usually I'm amused and listen. This was too late and frankly hurts in my opinion their cause. I was considering voting third party or write in Gary Johnson. Now I'm considering a punishment vote. Stop calling me! Everybody!

I keep reporting them on the do not call registry. I think that it costs them something like $15,000 per complaint, once they have been officially told not to call.

Wish I could go. It's nice to see a good Catholic out there in the public eye. For me the issue of the election is first to protect unborn children and second to ease the economic hardship on families. Paul Ryan is a solid candidate on both counts.

Awesome--can't wait to hear the next Vice-President of the United States (and probable President himself one day)! Let's go Romney-Ryan!!!

Romney has seemed like a bit of a fuddy-d, but Ryan is very charismatic. Looking forward to the next two debates. I agree with them on issues, but hadn't been sure of electibility until recently. I think they can pull it off.

It will be interesting to see if Ryan embraces the new stances (since Wednesday) of his running mate, "Moderate Mitt".

I thought I was back in Massachusetts watching Romney the other night - not that that's a bad thing, but now I have no idea where he stands on major economic issues or what he might do if he were to win.

Erin, my gut tells me that he will say whatever to get into office. He is banking on the stupidity of American voters. When he is in office, I imagine we will see another round of Bush policies.

Plus, he is beholden to the Koch brothers. Will he really bite the hand that is feeding him his political cash?

Really? You're going with the 'liar' line put out by the DNC, Michigan Voter?

Come on, Barry is as bad if not worse than any of them.

@Christopher, we do know that Mittens signed docs as the head of Bain after he signed other docs saying that he wasn't the head of Bain. Mittens has a poor record of telling the truth. Nobody can really argue that.

Michigan voter: so don't you think Obama is beholden to Union thuggery? You may want to ask all the GM bond holders and Delphi retirees about that. Or George Soros? Obama's close relationship with Valerie Jarrett - with her unprecedented secret service detail and questionable business tactics frighten me much more. She makes Cheney seem tame in comparison.

MV, this is one of my favorite left wing comments. The whole world, right and left, believed based on credible information that Hussain (not Barack, the other one) had WMD's. And many reasonable people would still argue that the chemicals weapons he had where in sufficient quantitites to qualify. Of course, the semi's the ran across the border to Syria as we were invading had apples in them, right?

@ Christopher, wrong again. The whole world did not support that inane belief. Here is the text from a UN resolution submitted by France, Germany, and Russia on the issue. See http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/02/24/sprj.irq.memo/index.html (stating "no evidence has been given that Iraq still possesses weapons of mass destruction or capabilities in this field").

Michigan - Jarrett? I don't think she's recommended invading a country with fabricated WMD data. But after listening to Romney 's foreign policy speech, sounds like he's ready for Round 2 in Iran.

I'm very concerned about super hawkish foreign policy folks R/R plan to bring along. Having been in, and followed Republican and Conservative politics for decades (more Independent now), I recognize a lot of these names and know their ideology and history. It's really concerning me. If Romney and Ryan weren't such neoophytes in foreign policy, I could plan on them offering some push pack on recommendations, but I'm afraid in this realm, they're empty suits.

Additionally, Romney says also he will "listen to the generals on the ground". Okay, and when do generals on the ground NOT want more troops, more aggressive action, more weapons? Not to mention all the contractors who want to continue the gravy train of over a decade of non-stop war + a Republican candidate promising even MORE engagement and permanent stationing around the world.

And, of course, we can double our military involvement without it adding to the deficit? Maybe military spending is just like tax cuts - "you never have to pay for them. They pay for themselves". Yeah, that's worked out pretty well over the last decade.

You can't have a foreign policy run on rhetoric and dangerous precedents of the last R administration.

The most interesting part about this visit, and Barry's visits, is that no one is going to Detroit.

It's a foregone conclusion that they're voting D, but you'd think that Obama would at least stop by. I guess he can't take being associated with Kwame and his crew.

I bet he doesn't come by because MI is solidly blue.

Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati are the urban areas he needs....not Detroit.

And you can't have a foreign policy run on hoping everything will just work itself out. I'm sure Chris Stevens would have appreciated a stronger military presence. The hands off policy in Libya and the subsequent administration's misdirection on the events there to the American public are indefensible.

I have completely lost faith in the UN as a whole. Earlier this year just a little more than a week after accusing Iran of supplying arms for Syria’s bloody crackdown on democracy-minded rebels, the UN gaveTehran a key seat at negotiations for a global arms treaty.

No...Romney, Ryan and Bush are all Republicans! It's the Republicans who took us from prosperity and a balanced budget, to where it all ended up in 2008: Two wars, financial ruin and the worst recession since the Great Depression!

You watch.....if Romney loses, You'll never hear from him again. If he loves America as much as he claims......why hasn't he done more for it when he was not running for President?
