St. Clair Shores will now have two representatives on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners. Following the 2000 U.S. Census, the city was divided into two districts that include neighboring communities.

• In the new Commissioner District 3, which includes St. Clair Shores and Eastpointe, Republican Randell J. Shafer will face Democrat Veronica Klinefelt in the general election. Shafer defeated Brad Templeman in the Republican primary. Klinefelt defeated Kevin Hertel in the Democratic primary.
• In the newly redrawn County Commissioner District 10, which includes St. Clair Shores and Harrison Township, Republican Zach Eineman will face Democrat Michael Boyle. Eineman defeated Jennifer Sharrock Piecuch in the Republican primary. Boyle defeated David Chavis in the Democratic Primary.
