Students from Violet Elementary will be holding a bake sale Wednesday for kindergarten student who is battling cancer.
Maria E. Anglin was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 2 1/2 years old, and is fighting kidney cancer and undergoing aggressive radiation and chemotherapy.
Fourth grade student Samantha Talanges learned of Maria and her cancer and donated her hair to Wigs 4 Kids. She also suggested conducting a bake sale.
Students raised over $200 Tuesday during lunch, and will have a second day for the bake sale Wednesday. The following day, students will host lemonade stands for Maria.
Violet is also accepting donations on behalf of the family through May 21. Kitty Deluxe will also be hosting a fundraiser from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, where 10 percent of the sales will benefit the Maria Anglin Fund.
