USS Edson Passes Through Lake St. Clair
Decommissioned destroyer USS Edson passed through Lake St. Clair Sunday en route to the Bay City.
Tugboats towed the USS Edson through Lake St. Clair Sunday en route to its permanent home in Bangor Township on Saginaw Bay, according to MLive.
The USS Edson is a decommissioned destroyer that is being towed to the Bay City area, where it will become a floating museum.

It's not everyday you see one of these babies on the water. It stood pretty tall out of the water. As dusk approached, the tugs were the stand outs and the ship appearing somewhat ghostly as she slowly displaced the water beneath her moving through Lake St. Clair to her final resting place. I hope some of the media or curator got some video of it. I reacall when the QE2 traversed the waters here. This was also a sight to see. Nice story Ed.

My grandfather sailed on the Benson class before the class pictured above. It's hard to imagine 235 people on those ships for extended periods of time.
