St. Clair Shores officials are seeking tips and information about the individual, or individuals, who caused nearly $7,000 in damage to the new Maloof Family Pavilion in Veterans Memorial Park.

Acting City Manager Michael Smith said either a skateboard or BMX-style bicycle damaged the cement on top of the half-walls surrounding the pavilion  nearly two weeks ago.

The damage caused between $6,000-7,000 in damage before any events have been held in the facility.

"This is everybody's park. They did that damage to everyone," Smith said.

He asked anyone with information about the incident, or if any residents see someone doing something illegal, destructive or damaging to call St. Clair Shores police at (586) 445-5300 or the City Manager's Office at (586) 447-3311.

Where were the workers that should be keeping an eye on things? If the park is open, there should be someone there.
