Three St. Clair Shores residents were part of the De La Salle boys baseball team which started the season 2-14, but turned around their fortunes to compete for the state championship.
Senior Bill Radatz, a right-handed pitcher, juniors David Crudder and Sean Boyle, all residents of St. Clair Shores, were part of the team which lost 9-6 Saturday to Hudsonville in the Division 1 championship game in Battle Creek.
Radatz, a right-handed pitcher, Crudder, a pitcher and plays first base, and Boyle, an infielder, helped the Pilots earn their first appearance in the championship game since 2009, when De La Salle captured the state title.
Radatz, who played baseball for De La Salle throughout his high school career and was the starting pitcher in the championship game, will play for Albion College next year.
Editor's note: Bill Radatz's name was unintentionally omitted from the first edition of this story.
