St. Clair Shores Readers Want Snow Gone — Fast

The alleged lack of snow plowing and amount of salt used by the city has upset some people.

The amount of snow that might be coming Tuesday isn't on everyone's minds. To some, it's more about how long it'll take to get the white stuff removed from the city's streets and sidewalks.

St. Clair Shores Patch readers took to Facebook on Monday to encourage everyone — from fellow residents to government officials — to make shoveling priority No. 1.

"Lets not give residents 3 days to clean it up though," Kim Pilipovich-Hamilton wrote. "12 to 24 hrs is more then enough time."

Another reader said the time limits should apply to more than just residents.

"Maybe that should apply to the City, too," Eva Strzelewicz wrote. "How about we not give them 3 days...no wait, make that 7 days or more...to clean up the streets and public areas. They have NEVER plowed my street this season, and they probably won't after this next storm. Heck...they don't even plow the main roads. Why should the City be exempt from the "snow event" or "snow emergency" rules???"

One reader said more salt is needed during heavy snowfalls.

"I wonder if they will plow the streets this time or if they actually want the residents to get injured," Kara Sue wrote. "Especially since I live right by Avalon elementary. It's only a matter of time until a kid gets hit by a sliding car seriously, they could at least spare the expense for a little salt with what we pay in taxes."

St. Clair Shores is under a winter storm watch from Tuesday afternoon through the evening for a possible winter storm that could dump up to 6 inches of snow on the city.
