South Lake Middle School students and staff gathered Monday in the school's nature area to celebrate their achievements during the past year.
Students were recognized for their work in a variety activities including Mandarin, Science Olympiad, tutoring elementary school students and mentoring their fellow classmates.
Members of the school's Green Team, and the student body, also were recognized for being named an Evergreen School by the Michigan Green Schools Program. The Evergreen designation is the highest award given to schools.
