Shores Mom Blog: Mommy Time
Sit back, relax, and grab a coffee. It's time you indulge in a little mommy time. Caring for kids young and old is hard work. Taking a break sometimes makes you a better mom!
I recently celebrated a milestone birthday, and when those special birthdays come around, we have a tendency to reflect on where we have been.
We look at our past accomplishments and where we are heading in the future. Although I do not know what the future holds for me I can tell you this…
I need my mommy time!
I love my mommy time!
I will be taking more "me" time in these coming years!
As a mom you serve as the anchor in the family. You are the glue that holds the puzzle together. Being a mom is hard work and everyone needs a little down time to engage in whatever brings them joy and relaxation.
In the busy life of motherhood we are so easily caught up in caring for our children that we often fall short in caring for ourselves.
I am guilty as charged.
My days, afternoons and evenings revolve around my kids on most days. I am with my children 24-7 providing cuddles, snacks, kisses, snacks, hugs, snacks, screaming, diapers and did I mentions snacks? I think my kids eat all day long!
I love my children and they have blessed me more than I could ever imagine. However, I am a firm believer that we all need to take time out of our daily schedule for our own time. It makes us a better mom and a better wife!
Some of my local mommy-time getaways are:
Tim Hortons: I love meeting up with some of my friends after the kids go to bed just for a quick outing. If time does not allow for that, then a drive-thru will work too! I love my coffee!
Conner Park Florist: Why not pick up some flowers for yourself? Bring the outside in!
AJ Nails and Spa: Are you looking for a quick pick-me-up? Why not treat yourself to a pedicure or manicure, read a magazine and lounge in a massage chair all at once!
St. Clair Shores Adult and Community Education Center: Do you want to learn something new? Or try a new hobby? I recommend Zumba!
The above are just a few suggestions that I enjoy. For a complete list of ways I like to spend my mommy time, grab a coffee and visit me HERE!
Please tell me on the Patch or at amamajourney@gmail.com how you like to spend your mommy time.

Thank God for Mom's Night Out! MNO happens once a month for this mom of six children. :o) Tim Hortons is a MUST for having chat time with friends. They have great coffee, stay open late and the kids don't even know mom left the house. It's a win, win for all involved. Shelly M. www.icantbelievemylife.com
