The nomination filing period for mayor and council candidates runs through August 17. This week, three more people pulled out nomination papers for city council.

Important information for election day:
- Precinct 4 has been permanently relocated to St. Lucy Church. It was previously located at Heritage Church.
- Precinct 15 has been relocated to Greenwood Elementary. The relocation from Jefferson Middle School is only for the August primary.
- Precinct 20 is now at Violet Elementary School. It is a temporary change from Taylor School.
- Precinct 22 has been relocated to a different room in Lakeside Community Church.
- All voters need to bring a picture identification to the polls.
- The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Absentee ballots have to be returned to City Hall by 8 p.m. on election night.
