Robbers Target Woman on Grosse Pointe Woods/St. Clair Shores Border
The following information is gathered from the police departments of Grosse Pointe Woods and St. Clair Shores. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
St. Clair Shores police are investigating the robbery of a 22-year-old woman outside a florist on the Grosse Pointe Woods/St. Clair Shores border in which her purse was stolen after the robber let her know he had a gun. The robbery happened Monday afternoon.
The victim called Grosse Pointe Woods police from a Mack Avenue church to report the crime. Responding officers discovered the crime happened technically in St. Clair Shores in front of Conner Park Florist.
St. Clair Shores police were called to the church to interview the victim, and told Grosse Pointe Woods police that a similar robbery involving similarly described suspects happened only 20 minutes earlier outside of Office Depot near 9 Mile and Kelly roads, which is in Eastpointe.
The man who approached the woman outside of the florist demanded her purse and pulled up his shirt to show her he was carrying a gun in the waistband of his pants. The woman gave up her purse and he got into an SUV with another man and drove from the scene.
Officers tried to locate the suspects without success. The victim was not injured.
A complete description of the suspects have not been released and additional details were not available late Monday from the Eastpointe robbery.
