Driver Who Struck Apartment Manager Arrested by St. Clair Shores Police

The following information is gathered from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Woman strikes apartment manager

A 32-year-old St. Clair Shores woman faces a pretrial exam Dec. 18 in 40th District Court for reportedly striking an apartment manager at Eagle Pointe Apartments with her car. The 42-year-old apartment manager was cleaning an apartment on Nov. 21 when she heard banging on a door and the sound of glass breaking. She ran to confront a woman who reportedly was banging on the door and then proceeded to her car. The woman, Lashawanda Johnson, got into her Jaguar and backed into the manager. She reportedly struck her on the right knee and sped away. She was later arrested and charged with malicious destruction of property and assault with intent to do great bodily harm. She is free on bond.

St. Clair Shores police were called Nov. 27 to Hear USA for a reported break-in. An employee reportedly found the deadbolt damaged and the building ransacked. Money and a television were reported stolen.

Suspect flees traffic stop

Officers stopped a 2000 Cadillac early Nov. 30 near the intersection of Cottrell and Harper for improper plates. As officers were checking the identification of the three occupants, one of the men fled the car. Officers chased him through an apartment complex, but lost track of him. A Clinton Township K9 officer was called, but was unsuccessful in locating the man.
