Man, Woman Charged With Prostitution in St. Clair Shores
The following information is gathered from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.
St. Clair Shores police have arrested three people, including a minor, on charges of prostitution.
Antwann Hawkins, 36, of St. Clair Shores, Niaterria Grant, 18, of Detroit, and a 15-year-old girl from Detroit were arrested Sept. 29 in the 19000 block of Salisbury. The man and the woman were charged with prostitution.
St. Clair Shores police officers were called to the area after seeing a "suspicious" white Chevrolet Avalanche just after midnight. When police arrived, they found two women sitting in the vehicle who said that they were waiting for a friend to come out of the home.
After questioning, Grant said she was out of money and in need of gas for her vehicle. Hawkins reportedly called her and offered her money for sexual favors.
She went to the home, and was reportedly paid $50 in exchange for sexual favors. He wanted additional favors, and she said that would required more money. Hawkins reportedly declined, and asked for the 15-year-old to come in the house.
The girl entered the house and was given $20. According to a police report, her only contact was putting her hand on his lower back, and he could not "confirm or deny" the girl was 15-years-old.
Grant was charged with prostitution, accosting a child for immoral purposes and prostitution/admitting into a house. Hawkins was charged with prostitution. Police are also seeking prostitution charges against the teen. She was released to her uncle.
Both Grant and Hawkins will return to 40th District Court Oct. 26 for a preliminary exam. They are both free on personal bond.
