St. Clair Shores police have arrested two men who are alleged to have been involved in separate break-ins.

North end break-ins

Officers arrested a 41-year-old Warren man on Monday in connection with a series of break-ins in the northern end of the city.

Detectives set up a sting to purchase items matching those recently reported stolen in home invasions. Police were able to develop a suspect, and Monday officer Paul Plaza spotted a vehicle matching the description of one driven by a man suspected in the break-ins.

Richard Rybicki was arrested and a search warrant was executed on his home in Warren. Officers were able to recover items that were reported stolen from St. Clair Shores.

Rybicki was charged with three counts of home invasion, a 15-year felony, receiving and concealing stolen property, a five-year felony, and receiving and concealing stolen property less than $200, a 93-day misdemeanor.

He is being held in the Macomb County Jail on $150,000 bond.

"(Officer Plaza's) awareness and attention to detail assisted in (Rybicki's) capture," St. Clair Shores Police Lt. David Centala said.

Home invasion caught in the act

Police were called to a home in the 22400 block of 10 Mile Road early Wednesday for a possible home invasion. Officers surrounded the home, and a 48-year-old St. Clair Shores man walked out of the house carrying a blanket that held prescription medication, clothing and loose change.

The man was ordered to stop, and after he disobeyed orders and continued to walk toward officers, he was stunned by a Taser and continued to resist arrest. Officers were able to apprehend him for burglary and possession of burglary tools charges. An arraignment is pending.
