Miss Michigan will try to outshine 52 other women tonight at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas to become Miss America.

Angela Venditti, of Shelby Township, has been competing all week in preliminary competitions leading up to the pageant at 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12.

The pageant, hosted by Chris Harrison and Brooke Burke-Charvet, will be broadcast on ABC-TV nationally and on WXYZ-Channel 7 locally.

Venditti, who was Miss St. Clair Shores when she was crowned Miss Michigan in June, has a platform of "Above the Influence: Keeping Kids Drug Free."
