March Madness Takes Over Local Bars, Restaurants

Basketball fans will be in their glory at noon today when the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament tips off. Bars and restaurants throughout St. Clair Shores are planning a variety of specials for the games.

The quest to be the top college basketball team in country starts today. While Michigan, Michigan State and the University of Detroit Mercy don't take the court until Friday, there will be a full schedule of games in arenas across the country.

For fans who aren't making the road trip to see one of NCAA games in person, local bars and restaurants have a number of special events planned for first round games including:

  • Boat Works: Catch all the games on the televisions which surround the interior of Boat Works and get an early taste of corned beef and cabbage and corned beef sandwiches.
  • Gilbert's Lodge: Draft beer specials and giveaways during games; happy hour 3-6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close. Green beer is also available today.
  • PB's Sports Grille: When any team from Michigan is playing in the NCAA Men's Tournament, PB's Sports Grille will be offering $2 domestic bottles.
  • Shores Inn: Will be broadcasting every game with specials on Michigan brewed beer.
