Macomb County's top elected official, and arguably the county's most eligible bachelor, announced Thursday he is engaged.

Mark Hackel announced he is engaged to Tracie Damschroder during a meeting of the Big Four regional leaders at the North American International Auto Show, according to a report in the Macomb Daily.

Hackel, 50, of Macomb Township, popped the question to the 31-year-old Shelby Township resident on Christmas morning, the paper reported.

A date has not been set.
