Macomb Co. Residents Wanted to Fill Two Seats on DIA Board of Directors
All Macomb County residents are welcome to apply for this appointment. The Macomb County Art Institute Authority will accept applications until 5 p.m., Sept. 28.
It may have been by less than 1 percent, but the Detroit Institute of Arts millage did pass in Macomb County, giving the Macomb County Art Institute Authority the power to nominate two voting members for the DIA's board of directors.
Per the contract between the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Macomb County Art Institute Authority, the authority has the right to nominate two individuals for appointment by the DIA to its board. The authority is currently seeking interested applicants.
Those wishing to apply need only be a Macomb County resident and a paying member of the DIA. If selected, the appointed residents would be required to attend the DIA board meetings held at 10:30 a.m. on the third Wednesday in February, May, July, September and November.
The authority is accepting applications until 5 p.m., Sept. 28. Applications are available by visiting www.MacombBoC.com and clicking on the link for “Macomb Art Institute Authority” in the far left column. They should be submitted to:
Macomb County Art Institute Authority, Attention: Jill Smith, 1 South Main Street, 8th Floor, Mount Clemens, MI 48043.
The authority is expected to make a recommendation regarding selected candidates in early October 2012.
Passage of the millage in August granted all Macomb County residents free admission to the museum for the next 10 years.
