Past and present members of the Lakeview Community Musical are invited to attend a rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Lakeview High School for an alumnus who had a brain tumor removed this summer.

The community has come together to raise funds Zach Howell - an active member of the Lakeview band, school plays and class of 2012 graduate - and has held a candlelight vigil and rally for the St. Clair Shores teen.

Members of the Lakeview Community Musical are asked to meet in the school's  choir/orchestra room for rehearsal for Sept. 19 fundraiser at Assumption Cultural Center. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to pay for treatments, costly medical needs, transportation, and the many other needs that have arisen, according to a post on Patch.

Lindsay McCullers, whose son graduated with Howell, wrote in an email sent to Patch, "(Her son) said that Zach was one of the only kids in school that was never mean to anyone, never spoke bad about anyone and was friends with everyone! I really hope that the community continues to rally around this wonderful young man; he really needs all the support and prayers that the community can offer right now."
