Strong winds late Sunday night knocked out power to more than 700 DTE Energy customers, the utility company reports.

According to DTE Energy website, there are 735 customers without power between I-94 and Harper, 8 Mile and Rosedale. The area includes Avalon Elementary School.

An automated phone call sent to parents stated the school will reopen Tuesday. DTE reported power was lost in the area about 11:14 p.m. Sunday, and is estimated to be restored between 9:30 - 11:30 p.m. Monday.

It appears power has been restored in the south end. Sorry Avalon students, it will only be a three day weekend.
