Hockey Returns to Lake St. Clair

St. Clair Shores announces the first Lake St. Clair Adult Pond Hockey Winter Classic Jan. 20-22.

Hockey will be returning to its purest form in January for the first Lake St. Clair Adult Pond Hockey Winter Classic.

The city of St. Clair Shores, St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation, Brownies Restaurant, Emerald City Harbor and several other sponsors are organizing the event on Lake St. Clair along the Nautical Mile.

The outdoor tournament for players 21-years-old and older will be played Jan. 20-22 on the canal adjacent to Brownies. Each team will have at least three games, with semi-finals and championships on Sunday.

There will be no checking in the 4-on-4 tournament, and teams must have matching jerseys for the 40-minute games. No goalie equipment is permitted, and if a puck goes out of bounds, the last team to touch it loses possession.
