Happening This Week: Art Fair, Military Collectors Show and Family Fun

Polish food, pub crawls, Wigs 4 Kids gala and more happening in the Shores.

 

PUB CRAWL
Where/When: The Nautical Mile, 6-11 p.m. Sept. 15.
Why Go: The Cool City Committee of St. Clair Shores is holding a Nautical Mile Pub Crawl. Pay $20, park at your starting point, and enjoy drink specials and appetizers for an hour, then take the bus to the next restaurant, and keep on enjoying drinks and eats throughout the night. Participating restaurants are Brownie's on the Lake, Pat O'Brien's, Pegasus Taverna, Rojo Mexican Bistro, Steve's Backroom, and Waves. The theme is "Lakeside Luau," so feel free to have fun with it.

FILM MOVEMENT
Where/When: St. Clair Shores Public Library, 6:30-9 p.m. Sept. 15.
Why Go: Enjoy a free film you're not likely to catch at the local multiplex. The library is showing A Screaming Man, a movie from France. And did we mention, it's free? 

POLISH DINNER
Where/When: Veterans of Foreign Wars Bruce Post 1146, 5 p.m. Sept. 16.
Why Go: Enjoy a Polish dinner at the Bruce Post, with all the fixings, including pierogies, smoked sausage, stuffed cabbage, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, bread, dessert and coffee.
Pricing: $9.75. 

FAMILY FUN FEST
Where/When: St. Germaine Campus, Sept. 16-18.
Why Go: Our Lady of Hope holds its Family Fun Festival, kicking off with a 5:30 p.m. parade Friday afternoon, at Gaffke Park, with a tropical theme. Then, throughout the weekend enjoy drawings, children's rides, Vegas games, fast food, bake sales and much more.
Pricing: No admission. 

WIGS 4 KIDS GALA
Where/When: Barrister Gardens Banquet Center, 6-11 p.m. Sept. 16. 
Why Go: Wigs 4 Kids holds its 8th Annual Fundraising Gala. Your support helps supply children and teens with hair loss — whether it's due to chemotherapy or another health matter — add a bit of normal back to their lives through cutsom wigs. Attire is modern chic, and there will be raffles and auctions.
Pricing: $75 per adult, or $30 for children 11 and younger. 

LAC STE. CLAIRE ART FAIR
Where/When: Veterans Memorial Park, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 17 and 18.
Why Go: Enjoy the works of dozens of artists, a kids tent, food, fun and more at the 24th annual Lac Ste. Claire Fine Art Fair.
Pricing: Parking is free, and there is no admission charge. 

THE BEATLES COME TO ST. CLAIR SHORES
Where/When: The Sports Channel, 9 p.m. Sept. 17.
Why Go: Enjoy a blast of Beatlemania as Toppermost! performs a tribute to the Fab Four. Hear all your favorites from 1963-66.
Pricing: $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

MILITARY COLLECTORS SHOW
Where/When: Veterans of Foreign Wars Bruce Post 1146, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 18.
Why Go: Whether you're a military or a history buff, this is the place to be this weekend. Buy, trade, view military gear, uniforms, medals and more at the Bruce Post this Sunday.
Pricing: $5. 

"MUSIC MAN" AT GROSSE POINTE THEATRE
Where/When: Grosse Pointe War Memorial, beginning Sept. 18, with 8 p.m. showtimes Thursday-Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sundays, through Oct. 2.
Why Go: Catch the Grosse Pointe Theatre's production of the classic show "The Music Man," about a man on the con who turns honest after falling in love.
Cost: $24.
