Grosse Pointe Theater Opens 'Doubt, A Parable' Thursday

The most recent production from Grosse Pointe Theater opens Thursday Feb. 21 at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House with shows continuing through March 3.

 

Grosse Pointe Theater's most recent production, Doubt, A Parable, opens at 8 p.m. Thursday Feb. 21 at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House. The production is put on by the Purdon Studio Theater, which is a division of Grosse Pointe Theater, that focuses on performances that are less traditional.

The show features several local actors, including:

  • Kathleen Conlon, of St. Clair Shores,
  • Jerry Nehr, of Grosse Pointe Woods
  • Kristen Schultes, Grosse Pointe Park
  • Diane Flint, of Oak Park

It is directed by Lois Bendler, of St. Clair Shores.

The story is set in the Bronx in 1964 is tells one nun's quest to determine the truth as it relates to a pastor she believes had sexual misconduct with an alter boy, according to information released by the theater.

The Purdon Studio work is a branch of the Grosse Pointe Theater that focuses on presenting "non-traditional theater in an intimate setting." Topics are often controversial, contemporary or unconventional.

Performances are offered at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; and at 2 p.m. Sundays from Feb. 21 to March 3. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased by calling 313-881-4004.
