Grosse Pointe Chamber Sells Fish T-Shirts

Do you love the Grosse Pointe Fish? Buy a t-shirt from the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce that features all of them.

As part of the Grosse Pointe Fish campaign, the Chamber of Commerce is selling t-shirts for adults and children featuring a collage of photos of all 51 Perch that are currently sprinkled through the five communities and St. Clair Shores.

Chamber Executive Director Jennifer Boettcher said she is not sure exactly how long the t-shirts will be avialable, however they will be sold until the first run order is complete.

The shirts are $20.00 for adults and $15 for children. They feature a large Perch on the back made with a collage of photographs of the fish. The front says Grosse Pointe Perch.

The project, which was announced earlier this year by the Chamber at its annual awards dinner, is meant to benefit Services for Older Citizens. The organization helps the seniors in the Pointes and Harper Woods with everything from home repairs to Meals on Wheels to social activities put on for seniors.

The fish hit the streets last month after an unveiling event on the grounds of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House. Now they are in front of businesses who sponsored the fish or on street corners near the family who sponsored the fish.

A map with the location of all of the fish is available throughout the Pointes and St. Clair Shores on Grosse Pointe Patch with the intent of drawing people to the community to see the fish, explore the community and visit the businesses.

Artists volunteered to decorate the fish and competed for the People's Choice Awards.

For more information about the t-shirts or to buy one, contact the Chamber at 313-881-4722. The adult sizes range from small to extra-large and the children's t-shirts are small to large.
