Get Out: Classic Cars Cruise In

Theater, art, hot rods and more fun await your weekend planning.

Why Go: The Freddy Cole Quartet, featuring the international recording artist Cole, headlines the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe this weekend.

Where/When: Grosse Pointe Arts Center; 6:30-9 p.m. June 10.
Why Go: Enjoy the Grosse Pointe Artists Association's latest show, Wordplay, opening Friday night. Members get a special preview at 6 p.m.

Why Go: The Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour parks it at Metro Beach for seven fun hours. Enjoy seeing all the cool rides arrive at the park as the tour makes its final lap after a long 1,600-mile trek from Florida.
Pricing: "Free" with park entry.


Where/When: Metro Beach Metropark; 8 a.m. June 12.
Why Go: If hot wheels and classics in steel get you revved up, head over to Metro Beach's 14th Annual Blast from the Past Car Show, with cool cars, street rods, low riders and more, plus live music in the evening, when "Satin Sounds" performs big band and ballroom dance music starting at 6:30 p.m.
Pricing: "Free," except for park admission.

And if you want a little something more, the is still going on at Gibraltar Trade Center North, through Sunday, with carnival rides, rope and knife trick shows, the Banana Derby with chimps racing on dogs, live music, and more.
