Football Kickoff to Have Digital Component

Organizers of the tailgate before the first game of the football season between South Lake and Lake Shore announced Best Buy will bring televisions and game systems to the festivities.

Before the real football players take the field Aug. 23 at Lake Shore High School for the kickoff of the 2012 season, a number of virtual games will be played.

Organizers of the tailgate before the game between city rivals South Lake and Lake Shore recently announced that Best Buy will bring two large plasma televisions with games systems. One will have a college video game, and the other will have an NFL game, according to Craig Manning, president of the Lake Shore Quarterback Club.

The game systems will be in large tents near the field.

Plans are also in the works to have a traveling video board from New Life Media that will be featuring videos of the football team. There will also be a special program that will feature the history between the two schools which dates back to the 1920s.

If readers of Patch have historical documents from the 1920s or 1930s, or may have a relative who played on one of those early teams, contact editor Edward Cardenas by email, or by calling 586-404-7927, and we'll help share the information with the Quarterback Club.
