Emagine Theater, Buffalo Wild Wings Looking at Eastside Locations
As a sign announcing Buffalo Wild Wings coming to St. Clair Shores has been placed at the proposed location of the restaurant, Emagine Theater confirmed the company is looking at a "far eastside" location.
Less than a week after a deal to bring Buffalo Wild Wings to St. Clair Shores was announced, developers have placed a sign at the Harper and Nine Mile Road location looking for co-tenants for the development.
As Mayor Kip Walby was announcing the new development, officials in Grosse Pointe announced that Emagine Entertainment had withdrawn its proposal for a 35,000 square-foot building that would house an eight screen movie theater in the Village shopping district.
Paul A. Glantz, founder and chairman of Emagine Entertainment, Inc., confirmed that his company is actively pursuing a far eastside location in Macomb County.
"As we contemplated the opportunity further we felt we needed a larger footprint with more parking to really be able to operate a viable theater in the marketplace," Glantz said. "We have a particular parcel under contract and we are undertaking due diligence with respect to that parcel."
He declined to share the exact location, but did confirm it would be in Macomb County. Glantz added that the far east side, which would include the Grossse Pointes and St. Clair Shores, is an "under-served" area by movie theaters.
"We are attracted to go where the market is not sufficiently served," Glantz said.
If built, the 12- to 14-screen theater would also be the first Emagine location in Macomb County. It will also be strictly a movie theater and not have other forms of entertainment.
"It will be state of the art," said Glantz, who the proposed theater will be similar to the Emagine Theater in Royal Oak or Rochester Hills.
Glantz hoped to have all the necessary "entitlements" secured by the end of summer to announce the location of the new theater.
