DIA Art Masterpieces in the Shores
A work by American artist Reginald Marsh is one of seven DIA masterpieces displayed around St. Clair Shores.
A digital reproduction of Savoy Ballroom has been installed near the main entrance of Kyte Monroe Park as part of the Detroit Institute of Arts Inside|Out program, which places art reproductions throughout Metro Detroit.
St. Clair Shores Patch is featuring all seven of St. Clair Shores' DIA artwork this week.
"Reginald Marsh shows everyone in Harlem's premier 1930s hotspot doing the lindy hop—the club's signature dance," states a plaque displayed next to the artwork. "It's not just Marsh's curving, swaying lines that practically swing you into the mix. Warm tones bounce and vibrate against cool ones, keeping your eyes constantly moving."
St. Clair Shores was one of 11 cities chosen for the program this summer. Read more about it and see a tour map of the artwork here.
