Dense Fog Advisory in Effect; Expect Slow, Hazardous Commute
Visibility could be reduced to just a few hundred feet or less this morning, warns the National Weather Service.
You may want to allow extra time for your commute this morning as a dense fog advisory remains in effect for the region until 11 a.m.
Widespread dense fog will persist this morning, according to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac. Visibility will be reduced to a quarter mile or less in some locations, even dropping to a few hundred feet or less at times.
The dense fog will result in adverse travel conditions during the morning commute with widely varying visibilities for motorists. If driving, slow down, use your headlights (low beams – not high beams) and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

A favorite childhood memory is of the November fog. My dad was deer hunting with Grampa and all the Uncles. So my mom, baby brother and I went to spend a few days with Gramma at her house in Detroit. Next morning Mom drove me into St. Clair Shores to go to school through a thick fog that totally enveloped Lake St. Clair and the shore line. For some reason I love that memory. : )
