The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is continuing its Neighborhood Concert Series in Grosse Pointe with a show April 27.

Patch has 25 pairs of tickets to give away to the show. Enter to win a pair by telling us in the comments below what was your first concert. Classical, rock, jazz — the genre doesn't matter. (No, you don't get bonus points for '80s hair bands. Sorry Whitesnake fans!)

The show at 8 p.m. April 27 is at First English Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Woods. The program will feature works by Mozart and Britten. Elizabeth Schulze will conduct the Orchestra and DSO Acting Associate Concertmaster Hai-Xin Wu will be featured as a soloist in Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3. Tickets are $25 each and available here.

The first 25 people to comment by 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, will win!

My first DSO concert was in elementary school. I played the violin so it was neat to see all the violin playerers and listen to the great music. One of my Kimball High School classmates plays currently with the DSO and it would be super to hear her play.

Just this last Monday, I was in Houston, Texas and I have a friend that is a music professor at Rice University. He let us sit in on some of the rehearsals. It is the first time I heard chamber music. I'm absolutely hooked. I would love to win tickets to the Detroit Symphony.

My first concert was with my future wife; we saw the DSO play at Ford Auditorium in downtown Detroit in 1988. It was a good performance and we had a good time but little did we know that Ford Auditorium would lie vacant for years afterward, how sad.

We took our 3 yr old daughter (she is now 63) to Belle Isle to see the DSO in concert. She stood in the aisle and directed the orchestra, to the delight of those sitting near us.

My first concert was in the mid-1950s, when my mother's friend and next door neighbor took me to hear the DSO and a guest concert pianist. She invited me because I played the piano, she had two tickets and her husband was out of town. I was very shy, so we didn't talk much. Unfortunately, I don't remember who the pianist was, but I do remember enjoying the concert and being grateful that she invited me.

I attended my first DSO concert at Ford Auditorium as a school field trip. Sixten Ehrling was the conductor. If it hadn't been for the Sisters of St. Francis I probably would not have developed such a love for classical music. My first rock concert, in case that is what the Patch meant, was seeing the Dave Clark Five, again, at the Ford Auditorium a very long time ago when you had to include a SASF with your ticket order and couldn't wait until the mail arrived with your tickets.

My parents took my brother and I to the State Fair to see The Supremes perform for free at the band shell. Of course the place was packed on a hot August night so we found at tree to the extreme left of the stage and climbed up for a great view of the stage and the extremely enthusiastic audience. We also went to the Belle Isle band shell numerous times to see the Detroit Concert Band conducted by Leonard B. Smith.
