Chase Ends in Arrests in Grosse Pointe Shores

Grosse Pointe Shores police assisted Macomb County law enforcement in arresting three people accused of robbing a gas station in Eastpointe.

Grosse Pointe Shores police assisted Macomb County law enforcement personnel in arresting three people at the intersection of Vernier and Lake Shore roads following a chase that started in Eastpointe.

According to an email from Grosse Pointe Shores Director of Public Safety John J. Schulte, police from Eastpointe pursued three people accused of robbing a Sunoco gas station on 25000 Gratiot Ave.

When the suspects’ vehicle traveled eastbound on Vernier Road toward the Shores, Grosse Pointe Shores police officers deployed spike strips across the road.

The spikes deflated the front tires of the suspects’ vehicles, and the car came to rest at the intersection of Vernier and Lake Shore.

The driver fled from the car, but police apprehended him as he tried to climb the fence to the Grosse Pointe Shores Park. Police also arrested the two other people in the car.

Police found a semi-automatic pistol and money in the car, according to Schulte.

Just another indication that the crime wave coming in from Detroit is making its way to the neighboring communities. No keeping the trash out now....

Homer, if General Tony McAuliffe had the same defeatist attitude that you have he might have surrendered to the Nazis at the Battle of Bastogne instead of holding the line. Doing so would have given the Nazis a clear path to Van Antwerp and the deep water port we needed to eventually push the huns back into their bombed-out hovels. Thank God that he was there and not you.

Dig-in and fix bayonets, son.

I hope they tripped and fell up a few flights of stairs on their way to jail.

Imagine that. They were caught by police agencies that do not have a muscle car (or two)...

cheap shot walden.

GPF is the only one without massive budget problems. How's your city doing these days? Sharing dispatch to save a dime? Hummmm....

The Challenger was donated by Ken Meade. I don't think passing on a free car is a good idea.

Why are we applauding officers for doing what they are supposed to do? There has been another armed robbery in broad daylight in GPP and it is still not on nixle 12 hours later.

I have to chuckle at the decision to run towards the well funded suburb with a huge natural barrier on one side.

I don't think we are dealing with a highly organized crime syndicate on this one. LOL.

Not only did they run toward the lake, the drove past the police station. "put down your coffee, officer and lay down the spike strips."

Changing the name from East Detroit to adding the prestigious "pointe" on the end is akin to putting lipstick on a pig.
