Rusie to Face Roberts for Michigan's 18th House District Race in November

Republican Candice Rusie and former State Rep. Sarah Roberts will vie for the newly created house district in November.

Former State Rep. Sarah Roberts will attempt to regain a seat in the Michigan House of Representatives in the November general election after beating out three other Democratic contenders in Tuesday's Democratic primary.

Roberts, who served in the Michigan House from 2008-2010, will face Candice Rusie, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary. According to unofficial results, Roberts defeated Democratic candidates Patrick Biange, Phillip A DiMaria and John M. Maynard.

Rusie is currently serving on her first term on St. Clair Shores City Council.

The two candidates are running in the newly created 18th District, which includes St. Clair Shores and Eastpointe. St. Clair Shores is currently in the 24th District, which includes Harrison Township and St. Clair Shores. Current State Rep. Anthony Forlini, R-Harrison Township, is running in a district that includes Harrison and Clinton townships.

I would speculate and say Ms. Rusie needs to pick up the pace show the people of the 18th district that she intends to eliminate Ms. Roberts from being re-elected to this position. I feel that this will be the race to finish with both having somewhat large shoes to fill in absence of our current State Rep who will be moving on to another district. I would suggest a debate on the issues is in order here.

I agree wholeheartedly. A debate is a must. The question is, will Sarah step up to the plate? I am sure Candice is game. Lets get it on!
