Michigan First Foundation Awards Scholarships to Local Students
Michigan First Credit Union has awarded $1,000 scholarships from the Michigan First Foundation to two St. Clair Shores residents.
The local scholarships were part of $51,000 awarded to graduating high school students in metro Detroit.
Students who received the scholarships were chosen by their school counselors based on academic achievement, community involvement, extra-curricular activities, leadership, special talents and civic, or social, responsibility, according to a release.
The local students who received scholarships were:
- Lake Shore – Alex Lettner
- South Lake High – Headley Williams
“It’s always an honor to award these scholarships to some of the best and brightest students in metro Detroit,” said Michigan First President/CEO Michael Poulos, who is also president of the Michigan First Foundation, in a release. “Whether it is through our 27 student-run credit union branches at locals schools, our Young & Free Michigan program or our scholarships to deserving graduates, we are committed to ongoing education and giving students the tools to succeed.”
