The Macomb County Board of Commissioners recently honored nearly 60 volunteers from a wide variety of charitable organizations, veterans groups, churches, schools, hospitals and senior citizen facilities.

Each volunteer donated at least 150 hours to volunteer activities in 2011.

“I have a great appreciation for the people who so generously give of their time and energy in this county. It takes a special kind of person to volunteer,” said Board of Commissioners Chair Kathy D. Vosburg, in a release. “The Board and I are thankful and proud of these individuals for their sense of service.”

Honorees from St. Clair Shores include Jill Best, of the DIA Volunteer Council, Paul Campo, from the Motor Division of the Macomb county Sheriff's Office, and Timothy Litz, of the Bruce Post VFW #1146.
