“THE 2nd ANNUAL STOCK to
Local High School Students Compete for College Scholarships
Registration is now open for Macomb, Oakland and Wayne County high school students for the second annual “Stock to Scholarship Challenge.” Students will be vying for a chance to win a total $8,000 in college scholarships while learning about investing in domestic stock markets. Last year, 650 students from 72 area high schools competed in the inaugural challenge.
Here’s how it works:
Each student is given access to an online personal stock market account seeded with $100,000 in “play money” to purchase stocks. The participants can trade stocks from their portfolio at will. The goal is to amass more “money” in their account than any other participants.
Participants have a chance to win scholarships to the college or university of their choice. One first place winner will receive $5,000, one (1) second place winner will receive $2,000 and one (1) third place winner will receive $1,000. Winners will have amassed the greatest wealth in their investment accounts. Contestant winners will be announced in May, 2013.
Student registration is open now until February 15, 2013. The contest begins on February 19, 2013 and ends on April 26, 2013.
